Static processes

A Static process is the opposite of a Dynamic process. A process that is static, is defined via Master Control to run on a specific hardware server, which may or may not be part of a Server Group. When a static process shuts down, an entry for it remains, with which it can be restarted from the Master Control Console.

A dynamic process, instead of being started from Master Control, is started by another process (usually known as a Director process), and is then run on the least loaded machine within a Server Group. When a dynamic process shuts down, it completely disappears.

As another way of putting it: Static processes are started by users. Dynamic processes are started by static processes.

For a list of processes, see List of standard processes.
