Probes
From HEWIKI
Probes are used to measure the amount of time that is spent in various sections of code, in order to tell if it's running too slowly. A probe can also be used to tell how often that a particular section of code (such as a function) is called.
The term may refer to:
- The Master Control Console, where probes can be seen by clicking on a particular process and then choosing the Probes tab in the Status Window
- Performance warnings which appear in the left side of the viewport to indicate possible FPS problems. These warnings are sometimes called "Probe warnings".
- Probes can also be observed in HeroBlade on the Performance panel.
Example
If the amount of time that a certain process takes is longer than was indicated in a probe, it may generate a Probe Warning in the HeroBlade Console Panel:
**** 0.457274 seconds for Probe WinRun ************************************** **** 0.45254 seconds for Probe WinRun ************************************** **** 0.432847 seconds for Probe WinRun ************************************** **** 0.51145 seconds for Probe World Render ************************************** **** 0.512461 seconds for Probe World RenderMirrorReflections ************************************** **** 0.443406 seconds for Probe WinRun ************************************** **** 0.571513 seconds for Probe MinimapCallback ************************************** **** 0.823484 seconds for Probe WinRun ************************************** **** 0.556316 seconds for Probe WinRun ************************************** **** 0.48277 seconds for Probe WinRun ************************************** **** 0.992546 seconds for Probe World Render **************************************
