LOD System 2.0
By default, changes in LOD level and fading are automatically handled using the LODFactor property. Using the LODSettings property, the user can specify the distances at which the LOD level, fade, and shadow rendering change or stop completely.
The interface displays for the user the number of LODs contained in the object, and cubic size of the object at the highest LOD, and the maximum distance to use for LODs.
With this information, the interface can automatically determine which the distance to change to the next LOD level, how much to decrease the opacity (fade the object to invisible), and whether to cast a shadow. The user may edit any or all of this information.
