Daemon
From HEWIKI
(Redirected from Daemons)
A Daemon (pronounced "Day'-mahn") is a way to define an executable. The definition of a Daemon is referred to by a process, to learn which executable it should be running.
For clarity: A process has a daemon. A Daemon does not have a process.
Adding and modifying daemons
Daemon configuration values are modified via the Master Control Console. Only licensees with Full or Source licenses have access to Master Control. Other types of licensees should contact the HeroEngine team for these modifications.
In the Master Control Console, editing is accomplished by clicking on the Edit Config button. See also Editing configuration values.
Once in the edit screen, there is a category for Daemons. Opening this category will allow you to:
- Add a Daemon, by clicking on the category name and then Add
- Edit a Daemon, by clicking on a Daemon name and then Edit, to modify either
- Name
- Executable Tag, meaning the application that the Daemon runs
- Server Group, which designates which group that the Daemon belongs to. This is a dropdown list of existing groups. To add a new group, click on the "Server Groups" category, and then Add to add an additional group.
- "Internal Only?" flag, to Y, N, or B. This flag currently serves no purpose.
- Parameters, by opening the Parameter list, choosing the appropriate parameter, and clicking on Edit to change the Parameter Value
- The parameters that are listed may be associated with the particular daemon, or may be inherited parameters. The letter in parentheses next to each parameter name indicates its Parameter Level, such as "D" for Daemon or "B" for base (default).
- (B)ase parameters cannot be modified in the Daemon category. To modify these, access the Default Parameters category.
